What are pallet collars used for?

What exactly are pallet collars, and what are they used for? The answer is easy to understand: in our industry, pallet collars are also known as pallet frames or stacking collars. They are placed on top of a pallet, and additional collars can be stacked on top. This gradually transforms the pallet into a wooden box, layer by layer. This is convenient if you want to keep a large number of loose items together. At Foresco, you can request a quote for sustainably produced pallet collars.

Pallet collar height and dimensions

The standard height of a pallet collar is 20 centimetres. The collar can consist of a single wooden board of 20 cm or two boards of 10 cm each. Pallet collars are placed on a block pallet, which is the most suitable type. Multiple collars can be stacked to create a wooden crate or box at the desired height.

Various dimensions are available. A standard pallet collar can be 80 x 120 cm or 100 x 120 cm, these are the most common. However, Foresco also offers collars in 60 x 80 cm. Custom dimensions are available on request. Feel free to contact us for more information. Our pallet collars are finished with reliable steel corner hinges, ensuring solid construction.

Pallet collars with a long lifespan

New pallet collars from Foresco are always treated in accordance with ISPM 15 guidelines and have undergone HT (Heat Treatment). This ensures trouble-free international transport and prevents pests from nesting in the wood. The long lifespan of pallet collars aligns with our ambition to promote sustainability and circularity, something we work on intensively every day.

How to use pallet collars

With a pallet collar (or several stacked together), you can transform a block pallet into a box or crate. Pallet collars are stackable, and you determine the desired height in 20 cm increments. The combination of a pallet and collars creates a packaging solution that is ideal for exporting loose products or components.

Ideal stacking height

It is all up to you to decide how high your wooden crate will be. At Foresco, we generally recommend stacking three to four pallet collars on top of a block pallet for ease of use. Lids are available to close off the crate, protecting contents from dust, dirt, sand, or moisture. There are also corner profiles available, allowing you to safely stack a pallet-collar combination on top of another. One of Foresco’s experts would be happy to advise you on this. We’re curious to hear your specific requirements or questions.

Other uses for pallet collars

Pallet collars are not only suitable for export or transport. Combined with a block pallet, they also offer an ideal solution for long-term warehouse storage. Divider inserts can be added to create smaller compartments within the crate. Not using your pallet collars at the moment? They can easily be folded, saving space in your warehouse or storage facility.
