GENERATING OUR OWN ENERGY

The final step in the circular process is energy generation from wood that is no longer usable for anything. But we do much more at Foresco to generate our own energy.

ENERGY FROM WOOD

It is only during energy recovery from wood that the CO2 stored for years is released again. There is therefore a circular and carbon-neutral cycle. A cubic metre of wood saves 0.8 tonnes of CO2 compared to alternative materials, such as plastic. In our world, no raw material can be found with the same qualifications as wood.

OWN POWER PLANTS

Several Foresco sites have their own power plants. At these sites, the wood that can no longer be used for anything else is efficiently converted into energy. Much of it is used to heat our own sites and to support production. For example, to facilitate drying rooms and charge electric forklifts and vehicles. In a few locations, energy is also supplied to adjacent businesses.

WIND TURBINES AND SOLAR PANELS

To enable and even accelerate the energy transition, Foresco is investing in solar panels. We have installed solar panels on the roofs of almost all production sites in both Belgium and the Netherlands. A few locations have wind turbines as well, which also contribute to our company’s green ambitions.
