At Foresco, we know the origin of every plank we produce. Sustainability and circularity are at the heart of everything we do and we are committed to making our processes and products as sustainable as possible. That’s why, since 2025, we have exclusively sourced wood certified by the PEFC.
Wood: a fully renewable raw material
Wood is one of the few truly renewable raw materials. At Foresco, all new wood comes from sustainably managed forests or is recycled. This approach helps maintain the natural balance of forests, promotes reforestation, protects biodiversity and respects the rights of local communities who depend on these forests. Through sustainable forest management, we are committed to preserving forests for generations to come.
The value of PEFC certification
The PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification) label guarantees that the wood meets strict ecological, social and economic standards. By complying with the EUDR legislation, we can ensure full traceability of the wood’s origin. With over a hundred sawmills across Scandinavia, Eastern Europe and Germany, this transparency is very important. As a result, 99.9% of the wood we process meets PEFC standards.
Investing in the future
Exclusively sourcing sustainable and recycled wood requires a financial investment. While this choice may affect short-term margins, we see it as a vital step towards a more sustainable future. Overall, the benefits such as stronger customer loyalty and an improved market position far outweigh the initial costs.
Certification as a foundation for trust
With over forty locations across the Benelux, Germany and Scandinavia, implementing PEFC certification requires strict compliance with established protocols. Every part of the chain, from purchase orders to labels and packing slips, is audited annually. This thorough process ensures we meet all sustainability requirements and strengthens the trust our customers place in us.
Recycling and reuse
Alongside PEFC-certified wood, recycled wood is a key part of Foresco’s sustainability strategy. Through our innovative Collect, Repair & Re-use platform, used pallets can be collected, repaired and returned to use. This extends the lifespan of pallets, reduces the demand for new raw materials and helps to lower costs.
