CORROSION PROTECTION
Our packaging solutions go beyond packaging alone. Certain products may also require corrosion protection. We are happy to help you with that.
ACTIVE AND PASSIVE PROTECTION
During transport, condensation can affect your products. For metal goods in particular ( including machines, components, semi-finished products and sensitive equipment) corrosion is a major risk for transportation over long distances. Our specialist export packaging effectively counters this thanks to the use of active and passive corrosion protection.

PASSIVE: BARRIER FILM OR ALUMINIUM LAMINATE
In passive corrosion protection, we use a barrier film or aluminium laminate for protection, combined with a desiccant or silica gel. With aluminium laminate packaging, we seal your product airtight.
The added absorbent materials ensure that all moisture is absorbed from the enclosed space. The very low relative humidity thus created protects the shipment from corrosion or other external influences. Aluminium laminate provides long-term protection against corrosion. This way, temperature differences and humid conditions do not affect the packed products.
ACTIVE: VCI/VPCI TECHNOLOGY
For active corrosion protection, we apply VCI/VpCI technology. VCI (Vapour Corrosion Inhibition) puts a molecular but invisible protective layer on the metal packed with VCI packaging materials. It is environmentally friendly and harmless. VCI seals the metal to moisture and impurities in the air and therefore acts as an insulator, the metal can no longer dissipate energy.
Examples of packaging with VCI:
- VCI film
- VCI concentrates
- VCI paper
- VCI tablets
- VCI bags
- VCI foam
- VCI powders
How does VCI technology work? Special VCI molecules in the packaging are released that deposit on the bare metal surfaces of your products. As a result, the molecules form an invisible protective layer, stopping the corrosion process. As long as the packaging is not opened, the protection remains intact.
How exactly does this technology work? Inside the package, VCI molecules exit the source. This is called the vapour phase. The molecules then saturate the (sealed) space and deposit on bare, metallic surfaces (your products). As a result, the molecules form an invisible protective layer: this stops the corrosion process.
