TOWARDS CO2-FREE PRODUCTION
To achieve CO2-free production and to avoid greenwashing, we cooperate with various renowned and recognised bodies. This way, we are sure to make good progress.
REPUTABLE, RECOGNISED BODIES
In our sustainability policy, we follow the Greenhouse Gas Protocol. It describes a reliable way to calculate a company’s CO2footprint. We also collaborate with Science Based Targets. This initiative is a collaboration between the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), the United Nations Global Compact, World Resources Institute and the World Wide Fund for Nature. Since 2015, more than a thousand companies have joined the initiative to set a science-based climate target. We have our sustainability actions evaluated by this organisation. We are also considering joining Ecovadis, an independent ESG auditor.

SCOPE 1: 50% LESS CO2 IN 2030
As with many of our customers, our sustainability policy focuses on Scope 1, 2 and 3. Scope 1 deals with our direct CO2emissions caused by our own sources within the organisation. Consider gas and fuel consumption. Within Scope 1, our efforts include retrofitting our buildings, buying dry rather than fresh wood and using electric forklifts. We are also making buildings more energy efficient, drying rooms more efficient and installing high-speed doors. By 2030, we aim to emit 50% less CO2 within Scope 1.
SCOPE 2: 50% LESS CO2 IN 2030
Scope 2 includes indirect emissions of CO2. These are emissions from the generation of electricity, heat and cooling and steam in external installations. In particular, electricity purchases and fuel consumption of hired transport must be considered. Within Scope 2, we are committed to installing solar panels (or wind turbines) and purchasing green electricity. We are also eliminating current and compressed air leakages, stopping machines during breaks, printing LED lights and marks instead of burning. Also for Scope 2, we are aiming for 50% less CO2emissions by 2030.

SCOPE 3: 33% LESS CO2 IN 2030
Scope 3 includes emissions that arise as a result of Foresco operations, but from sources not owned by us. We have no direct but certainly indirect influence on these emissions. Examples include buying dry wood (lower transport), purchasing as close to our sites as possible, producing as close to the customer as possible, inbound transport by ship and train, nails made of recycled steel and encouraging customers to set up return flows. But also to minimising wood waste, avoiding rejects, wasting as little as possible, driving with full loads and encouraging commuting by bike. Our goal: 33% less CO2emissions by 2030.
